Great to read about your summers Rekha in such a different part of the world from where I grew up. I’ve never had jack fruit, I don’t think I’ve ever even seen one! Love your characters for the week, well done! I think the trombonist is my favourite too.

I am sure I replied but I cant seem to find it. 😕 You must have the Jackfruits atleast once Hannah. Its a very different one. You can have every part of it except the thorns. As very little kids the leaves of the tree was made into a spoon and we used to use it as a spoon and it used to taste extra delicious.

I’d be willing to try but they are very hard to find in Trieste. There’s not much unusual exotic fruit around.

I have many childhood memories. We'd visit my 7 cousins in Prince Edward Island, Canada.

Picking clams and having bomb fires by the beach. Swimming in the ice cold ocean and building sand castles. I should doodle a bit too. Maybe I can write a PB about it. Thanks for sharing Rekha.

Theses are such unique memories Eleanor. You should start doodling them. Maybe do a few and try and make them into a narrative sequence. And if you see there is potential, make it into an entire PB. I am sure it will be amazing. What AI can’t and will never be able to do what we do is memories and having unique stories. So just go for it. If you post it somewhere, do make sure to tag me. I would love to see

This was so lovely to read Rekha 🥺💛 I have food memories from childhood too, my grandmother use to make savory goods for pastries and we use to make them very early, went by bus to the pastries to deliver them and then beach time ☀️ the best summer times and it was in the 'big city' which made me feel gigant inside (so naive) 😄 all was so different from where I lived!

Oh my goodness!!! I want to hear more about it Teresa. I love love love love food and especially desserts. And you spoke to a memory that’s food related. Yummmmm. What pastries where these? Sweet? Flavored? With icing? And what does savory goods mean? I am so excited to hear more. I would love to.

I don’t eat much but also love food bc of all the memories I have around food 🥰 by savory goods I mean homemade savory snacks like beef croquettes and shrimp turnovers 😋 delicious but not very healthy as they are all fried snacks!

Mostly all the tastiest food is either unhealthy or very high on calories isn’t it?? How unfair . I love love love food. Especially desserts and sweets. If I could just eat without worrying about health or calories I could literally live on sweets

As of now I am still doing the 100 day characters Teresa. I feel I will stick to this because, characters is something I really enjoy doing. So maybe. I just wanted to take away the pressure of showing it somewhere , because then I will get so pigeon-holed into trying to do something that will and must look at least decently good. But Substack is a place, I guess I can safely show. lol. That’s funny isn’t it. I feel this place as a place I can show myself more truely and authentically

I can totally understand this, I don’t feel so much pressure here on Substack and hope it never changes 🤞

I feel the same Teresa. maybe it’s because I don’t look at it as a social media yet. I don’t know, but it just frees me to show up authentically here on Substack

Wow Wow Wow. Thankyou so much for sharing. The book I had recently worked on Little Sheku, is a book with lots of Musical instruments (from Orchestra) and I learnt a lot looking for each of them, how they are held, played and it was truely amazing
