Every artist/illustrator has a certain own way to start the day, break the block when they don’t know what to draw.
Below are a few ways I break that block when I am either absolutely not in a mood to draw, or donno what to draw or just wanna try something new or fresh.
1- Draw what I see-
I drew this last year when on vacation and just didn’t know what to draw. This plant was before me on balcony
2- Drawing my day- these are usually very crappy, scribbly and more doodle-Ly
3- Drawing from random shapes - this is most favorite and what I lean the most towards.. I draw random shapes and try to draw images (mostly people as that’s what I love to draw the most) in them. For the first time I came across this in a skillshare class by Tom Froese and have been using it ever since.
Would love to hear what techniques/exercise you do to loosen up when you don’t feel like or want to draw.
I love your people shapes. I like to draw blind contour faces or animals when stuck. That always makes me laugh too.
